Bengaluru GCC Playbook: Still the Nucleus

TL;DR

Bengaluru remains the default for deep product and engineering talent. Use it when ownership density matters more than the cheapest seat.

Bengaluru is still the nucleus for many GCCs

City choice is a capability decision. Rent matters. Talent density and leadership depth matter more.

Bengaluru still concentrates a large share of product, platform, and multi-tower captives. Competition and salary pressure are real. So is the ability to hire seniors who have already shipped in global companies.

When Bengaluru is the right call

  • You need product managers, staff engineers, and data leads in the first wave
  • HQ expects fast collaboration with US/EU product orgs
  • You would rather fight for talent than build a thin bench elsewhere too early

When to pause

  • Your charter is pure cost takeout with shallow skills
  • You cannot fund competitive senior bands
  • You have no plan for retention beyond the offer letter

30 / 60 / 90

  • 30: Charter and role mix that justify Bengaluru specifically.
  • 60: Live salary bands and neighborhood / office constraints.
  • 90: First hires onboarded with a retention story, not only a joining bonus.

Takeaway

Bengaluru is not automatically “best.” It is often best when ownership is the goal.

That is the city ContextDelta is built around. Book a discovery call if you are weighing it against Hyderabad, Pune, or a tier-2 start.

“Structure matters, but the first three or four hires decide whether your India team becomes a capability or an expensive supplier.”

— Anupam Tandon, ContextDelta
